Acoustic Glass Systems

Dual-glazed and acoustically rated assemblies that measurably improve speech privacy — without giving up the daylight or sightlines that single-pane fronts deliver.

Overview

When speech privacy matters, single-glazed fronts are not enough. Acoustic glass systems combine dual-glazed assemblies, laminated interlayers, perimeter gasketing, and acoustic doors to control sound transfer between offices, conference rooms, and corridors.

We coordinate glass thickness, airspace, door type, and seals so the finished assembly performs the way the design specification calls for — not just on paper.

Acoustic performance is a system, not a single product. The same dual-glazed front will perform very differently depending on door type, perimeter gasketing, drop seals, and how the adjacent drywall meets the deck. We coordinate every link in the chain against the specified STC target.

Why it matters

Speech privacy

Dual-glazed assemblies with proper airspace deliver measurably better STC performance than single-pane fronts.

Daylight preserved

Acoustic upgrades don't require giving up glass — full-height transparency is retained.

System-level coordination

Glass, frame, gasket, and door are specified together so the whole assembly performs as one.

Platforms include CRL Fallbrook XL and Fallbrook XL NY for dual-glazed frameless fronts, plus the CRL 487-AR acoustic-rated framed partition system.

Frequently asked

What STC rating can we expect?

It depends on the platform and door type, but dual-glazed acoustic systems typically deliver substantially higher STC than single-pane fronts. We'll match the system to the specified target.

Do acoustic doors look different?

Acoustic doors are visually consistent with the surrounding front but include perimeter seals, automatic drop seals, and heavier glass.

Can existing fronts be upgraded?

Yes — we regularly replace single-glazed fronts with dual-glazed acoustic assemblies as part of executive-floor renovations.

What's the difference between Fallbrook XL and 487-AR?

Fallbrook XL is a frameless dual-glazed front; 487-AR is a framed acoustic-rated partition. Choice depends on the architectural aesthetic and door requirements.

Can we get a sound test after install?

Third-party acoustic consultants handle field STC testing — we coordinate access and any punch items the test surfaces.
